about
"...If you're feeling lonely and you're still searching for your true friends, just look up in the sky. Who knows, maybe you and your future best friends are all looking at the same rainbow."
Dedicated to perhaps my favorite friendship report in the series, this is "The Same Rainbows". I've always wanted to try my hand at rock vocals as well as rock music production, so that's sort of how this song came about from a technical standpoint. Thematically, I just really like the sentiment of "Cutie Mark Chronicles" from Season 1. Yeah, Spike, it's cheesy. But cheese is delicious, so... yeah.
This one is from Twilight's perspective, with the first verse focusing on Twilight's initial disdain for other ponies, and the second her retrospective on her old mentality once she became close friends with the rest of the Mane 6.
lyrics
Lions surround me,
eyeing me with hungry eyes.
Their teeth, their lies.
Why risk the heartache?
I'll just keep my head to the books,
and my back to the skies.
The way looks rough.
But I think I'll make
it if I just take my time.
So you go your way,
and I'll go mine.
But somedays
I look out and pray
that I won't have to stay
All alone,
unknown.
How could I walk this path alone?
I would've fallen without
you to walk beside me and
lift me up when I'm down.
I am alive
because of your
generosity,
your loyalty,
your honesty,
laughter, kindness
and love
You took my heart,
said it could be more
than worn and broken and scarred.
And when I'm alone
you taught me to sing:
Who knows?
Maybe you and yours
are staring outdoors
At the same rainbows.

Such a wonderful fic, and the album does a very good job of showing the emotional arc in its entirety. This is one of my go-to depression albums. willowisp illustrations
